“While the new normal for life in a ‘COVID’ world is still evolving we continue to work with our staff and suppliers to adapt and provide care as safely as possible. We continue to follow the continuously evolving recommendations for protection of both staff and patients. Rest assured that should you have to visit our offices there are several new procedures in place.

In compliance with heightened infection control policies expect a phone call from our office screening for COVID symptoms, and a second screening on arrival. We ask that you remain outside/ in your vehicle and call the office on arrival so we may do the screening prior to entering the building.  Please wear your own mask if possible (we will provide you with one if needed.)  No visitors are permitted unless medically necessary.

Do not attend the office or hospital if you have been exposed to COVID or have more than 2 the following symptoms:
New or worsening cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fever/chills
Unexplained fatigue, headache, sore throat, runny nose/congestion not related to allergies, pink eye
Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea/stomach pains
Muscle aches

Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate these new changes.

“I have a strong interest in reconstructive and cosmetic Plastic Surgery. As a woman, and a mother, I feel a strong connection to many patient’s concerns about body image and function and I do my best to really listen to what those concerns are.”

Dr. Amanda Fortin, Plastic Surgeon

~ a feminine approach to plastic surgery…

In 2011 Dr. Amanda Fortin returned to Northern Ontario to open her practice in Sudbury. While she has roots in Northern Ontario she has done extensive training across Canada and abroad. Her training in medical school was in Calgary Alberta, she became certified in Plastic Surgery at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg and then went on to do specialty training in Texas and in Melbourne Australia.

She began her career as a surgeon and instructor of plastic surgery trainees at the University of Western Ontario in 2007 in London Ontario but decided to return to her roots in the north when she began her family. She has worked out of Health Sciences North since moving to Sudbury.  In 2018 her main practice location has moved to 1493 Paris St. This is an easily accessible location for both consultation and an approved surgical centre.

Please be aware of the testing requirements that apply for all patients undergoing surgery at Sudbury Plastic Surgery.  You will be required to have a COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test prior to your surgery.  These tests can be booked through your Public Health Unit, or through a private facility that offers the testing.  Given the everchanging guidelines and the ongoing pandemic, eligibility for the PCR is limited and the local Public Health Unit may not be able to offer you the test based on the present demand for these tests.  You may need to have it done at a private facility and consequently incur a cost for that.

The PCR test results are required in order for the surgical team to proceed with your procedure.
